Loyiso Maurice Mgqatsa, was born in the small town of Qumbu, Transkei. He was raised by a single mother Nonkongozelo Sweetlina Mgqatsa who sacrificed selflessly. Loyiso began writing poems for Vukani, a local newspaper, paving the way for writing his first book in 2008 titled “Ntliziyo ndikhulule”
